Table Tennis Victoria is excited to announce the return of the anticipated Country Championships, taking place from Saturday June 6 to Monday June 8 at the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium in Traralgon. 

One of the longest-running and most celebrated events on the Victorian table tennis calendar, the Country Championships will welcome almost 80 teams from clubs across Regional Victoria, showcasing the passion, talent and community spirit that continues to drive the sport throughout the state. 

Over the three-day event, players of all ages and abilities will compete for regional honours in a weekend that not only celebrates high-level competition, but also the strong connections and camaraderie that make the Country Championships a highlight of the table tennis year. 

Table Tennis Victoria CEO Gen Dohrmann said the event continues to play an important role in strengthening regional table tennis communities across Victoria. 

“The Country Championships are one of the most important and historic events on our calendar, bringing together players and communities from across Regional Victoria in a celebration of sport, connection and competition,” said Dohrmann. 

“We are thrilled to be bringing the event to Gippsland and look forward to an exciting weekend of table tennis while also supporting the local region and its businesses.” 

Latrobe City Council Mayor Cr Sharon Gibson said she is delighted Table Tennis Victoria chose Latrobe City to host the championships. 

“It’s a fantastic win for our region,” the Mayor said. “We’ll be welcoming players and supporters from across the state, which is great news for our local cafes, restaurants and accommodation providers." 

“It also means our local table tennis players get the chance to compete in this premier sports event right here at home."  

“We are proud to support this event through our Major Event Funding program, as part of an eight-year partnership between Council, Table Tennis Victoria and Destination Gippsland.”
