Table Tennis Victoria is excited to provide an update on the Table Tennis Victoria Centenary History Book Project.

In mid-2019 the Table Tennis Victoria Board asked for expressions of interest from community members who were able to contribute to the development of a book to celebrate the centenary of table tennis in Victoria in July 2025.  A project group has been formed and are working towards completing the Board’s vision of capturing and preserving the history of table tennis in Victoria.

The Table Tennis Victoria Centenary History Book Project is led by Bob Tuckett. Bob started playing table tennis in 1965 at Alan Creighton’s club in Croydon. Alan was Bob’s first and only coach. Bob represented Victoria from 1968 to 1984 at both junior and senior level. He has won both Victorian and Australian Open junior and senior titles and represented Australia for 14 years on over 250 occasions. Bob has had an illustrious playing career whilst having a passion for statistics and the history of table tennis.

Currently the book project is at the end of the research phase. Research has been completed for the entire book, and drafts for the first three chapters will be with the publisher, Broadcast Books, by the end of March. The project group has been working closely with Broadcast Books over the past few months and are confident that they will be on track to deliver.

A highlight of researching the history has been the collaborative effort of the project group and their passion and commitment to delivering a high-quality book. The name of the book is also very exciting and will resonate with the table tennis community.

The book will go to the publisher for print by June/July 2024 and will be ready for a July 2025 release.
