Table Tennis Victoria Appoints Three New Board Members

Published Fri 11 Dec 2020

We are delighted to announce that the TTV Board, via their Nominations Committee, have resolved to appoint three new Directors to the TTV Board to fill the casual vacancies.

After an extensive and through application and nominations process, the following individuals are welcomed to the TTV Board:

Deborah Niccol and Meredith Kelly have joined the Board as Appointed Directors on three and two year terms respectively (to Dec 2023 & Dec 2022), while Andrew Weiss has joined as an Elected Director (up to AGM in 2021).

Andrew Weiss, who holds a Master of Business (Sports Management) and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, has already developed an interest and appreciation for table tennis through his work with Table Tennis Australia via his company MySportLive. They offer a range of services tailored to help sporting organisations maximise potential exposure through livestreaming, video production, social media management, member engagement, event media and more. Andrew is a member of Albert Park TTC.

He was previously Chief Executive Officer at Motorcycling Victoria where he oversaw an increase in staff levels, funding, and profit for the organisation. Andrew made an impressive rise from Communications Officer to CEO in four years within the organisation, and understands the landscape facing State Sports Organizations in Victoria.

With his sports management, public relations, and digital media experience we are looking forward to seeing the impact Andrew has with TTV. We are especially excited regarding his potential to impact the profile pillar of TTV’s four-year strategic plan, ‘Our Future Now’.

Meredith Kelly has a long and extensive history of experience with Sport Australia (previously known as the Australian Sports Commission), as a professional sports administrator across numerous key areas.

Her current role with Sport Australia has seen her design and deliver a sport infrastructure strategy and investment framework for the organization. Before this, she managed a wide range of projects in the Sporting Schools program, engaging with more than 5,500 schools and 850,000 students across the country.

Her understanding of the government funding arena, combined with her strategic planning, project management and sports administration skills will see Meredith contribute significantly to TTV’s participation aspirations for 2021, and beyond.

Deborah Niccol is an experienced and respected administrator in the sports and leisure industry, with over 12 years of both domestic and international experience in management and operations in the public and private sector.

Deborah has gained experience through her work with organizations including Sport England, Sport and Recreation Victoria, as well as through her employment with leading National Sports Organisations including Tennis Australia. She is currently the Sport Development Officer for the Yarra City Council where she manages a large departmental portfolio and is responsible for the administration and delivery of the Council’s services and projects in sport & recreation.

Deborah also has high-performance experience on a personal level, and competes at a high level in athletics, specifically middle and distance track running.

TTV is delighted to have a full suite of nine Directors appointed to the Board, with five male and four female Directors offering complementary skills and a diversity of professional and personal experience.

An updated TTV Organizational Structure can be accessed here.

Please join us in welcoming Andrew, Meredith and Deborah to the TTV family.
