In summary, there are a few key items for Affiliates to be aware of before they operate safely and legally – it is essential that Affiliates understand and comply with the following:

  1. COVID Safe plan

Community sport and recreation workplaces, venues/facilities, associations, and clubs must have in place a COVID Safe Plan and ensure it is implemented at open workplaces, venues, and facilities.

To make it easier for our Affiliates to comply with this requirement, TTV has produced a COVID Safe Plan for your use (attached). In many cases, this will be sufficient for the purposes of the venue operator. Most LGA’s have indicated (via Sport & Recreation Victoria) that they will accept the COVID Safe Plan prepared by the governing State Sporting Organization (i.e. TTV).

The TTV COVID Safe Plan is attached in both PDF and editable Word format. This allows Affiliates to include any venue specific inclusions, and is an opportunity to include your own logos should you wish.

All COVID Safe Plan’s must contain the following minimum information:

  • Sector-specific directions relating to venue capacity (in our case, indoor community sport)
  • Physical Distancing requirements (1.5m when not playing)
  • Face mask requirements (to be worn at all times, when not playing), general hygiene & cleaning
  • Record-keeping processes (a clear and full record must be kept)

  1. COVID 19 – Signs, Posters, and templates

The COVID Safe plan which you adopt requires clear signage to assist with outlining social distancing rules and related spacing requirements.

The Sport and Recreation Victoria team has prepared a range of materials, which are designed to be inclusive and adaptable, while sharing this important public health message. They include posters, corflute signs and stickers for use around venues.

These materials are downloadable at www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/signs-posters-and-templates.

  1. Players to be Registered

It is understandable that some players may not yet have become TTV members in 2020, due to the disruption caused by the pandemic. Members will have noted that refunds of 50% have been granted for those who took out full membership earlier in the year. Those who yet to take out membership are not covered by insurance, and therefore cannot participate in sanctioned Affiliate activity. 50% full price memberships are still available, as are 50% full price social memberships.

Please take the time to fully understand these regulations and processes.

We are advised that spot checks will be carried out throughout the state in indoor community sports settings.

Failure to comply can have serious legal and financial consequences, as well as potentially critical health outcomes for the community.

As always, if in any doubt regarding any aspect of this email and its contents, please seek clarification from TTV rather than make assumptions or apply your own interpretations which may be misplaced and result in action being taken against you by the relevant authorities.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible back on the court for the remainder of 2020, as we look forward to a much more enjoyable and exciting 2021.
