Published Tue 23 May 2023

The Albury/Wodonga Junior/ Senior open took place over the weekend at AWTTA Greenfield Park with some standout performances.

Zach Anstey ensured he walked away with plenty of silverware, taking home the Men’s Singles, Twenties singles, Division 1 Singles, and the Open Doubles alongside Raymond Myrteza.

Yuhan Li also enjoyed their time up at the Murray, securing wins in the Women’s Singles, U/17 Girl’s singles and Division 3 Singles while also finishing runner-up in the U/19 Girl’s Singles.

The contingent who made the trip up from Geelong also provided some good performances, with Bethany Lindorff taking out the U/19 Girl’s Singles and finishing runner-up in the Division 3 Singles.

In the Juniors, it was the day for Albury/Wodonga locals Max and Levi Geering to show off their skills.

But first, it became a battle of the brothers in the Under 19 Boy’s singles, with Max and Levi facing off in the final, with Max taking home bragging rights, beating his brother in straight sets.

However, Levi would then go on to bounce back and take home the win in the U/17 Boy’s Singles.

The brothers teamed up to take out the U/19 Boy’s Doubles, while also finishing runners-up in the Open Doubles, falling to Anstey and Myrteza.

Shrinika Hariprasad managed to take out the U/15 Girl’s and U/13 Girl’s singles while also teaming up with Suhani Karanani to win the U/13 Girl’s Doubles.

For now, all eyes will be on the upcoming Victorian Country and Metro Championships happening on June 10-12 at Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium and 17-18 at Croydon and Districts Table Tennis Association.
