Published Thu 18 May 2023

Another weekend, another tournament!

The Albury/Wodonga Junior/ Senior open is taking place this weekend at AWTTA Greenfield Park on May 20.

A change to the original dates, with the tournament combined into a one-day event.

In the Juniors there has been 54 entries, an increase from 2022 levels.

There are some names to keep an eye on, with the likes of Yousef Hassan, Brian Tesler, Swetha Sundaresan and Ocean Yang all eyeing off wins.

It’s wonderful to see a strong contingent from Geelong heading up to Albury with Charlotte and Bethany Lindorff as well as Matthew Bereza competing.

The Seniors will be scattered across the day with a couple of names to keep an eye on.

Zach Anstey is making the trip up and will be eager to bring home some silverware as will Ray Myrteza.

Albury/Wodonga locals Max and Levi Geering as well as Luke Van Zanten will be excited to show off their skills at their local club.

“A weekend away on the Murray, a chance to enjoy some sun, some good food and some great Table Tennis,” said Albury/ Wodonga Table Tennis Association Vice President Ian Radley.

“The Junior and Senior Tournament are both being played on the same day and will see a lot of Juniors competing in the Senior events and is their chance to beat the experienced players.

“Albury Wodonga is well represented with 7 in the Juniors, including our state representatives Max & Levi Geering and Luke Van Zanten and 13 in the Seniors.

“The event is always well run and there is a good choice of food available at the Club. Parking is available in "Greenfield Park" in North St, just beside the club.”

Play begins at 10:00am on the Saturday and is free entry for anyone who wishes to watch some exciting table tennis.
