2025 TTV Annual Awards Winners

The 2025 TTV Annual Awards Soiree took place yesterday 11th December at Brewmanity, South Melbourne and it was a fantastic evening of reflection and celebration for all in attendance.

The evening kicked off with a CEO welcome from Gen Dohrmann before introducing the awards that would be presented.

Four of the Awards, being the Presidents’ Service Award, Javor Coaching Award, Guggenheim Volunteer award, and the St Kilda Cricket Table Tennis Club Affiliate of the Year award, were selected by the TTV Office from community nominations received and sent to the TTV Board for approval. The Singer Official of the Year Award was selected by the TTV Umpires League and approved by the Board.   

The remaining four Awards - being the French, Coburg, Sokolowski and Rosario awards - were selected by the State Selection Panel and sent to the Board for approval. 

 

Player Awards:

The FRENCH AWARD is given to the Senior Players of the Year and named in memory of Table Tennis Victoria former President, Vic French. 

Female Finalists: Sanaya Buddhadasa, Connie Psihogios, Riti Shankar, Yangzi Liu

Female Winner:Yangzi Liu

Male Finalists: Dillon Chambers, Nicholas Lum, Finn Luu, Aditya Sareen

The COBURG AWARD is given to the Junior Players of the Year and donated by Coburg Table Tennis Club. 

Female Finalists: Connie Psihogios, Alice Xia, Kavyaa Madaan, Cherry Le Nguyen 

Female Winner: Kavyaa Madaan

Male Finalists: Lucas Lum, Aaron Nguyen, Aditya Sareen, Alex Huang

Male Winner: Aditya Sareen

 

The ROSARIO AWARD is given to the Para Male & Female athlete of the Year and is named after the Rosario family, an award which recognises the contributions made by Prisca, Eric and Alois Rosario to the sport of table tennis in Victoria. 

Female Finalists: Danni Di Toro, Qian Yang

Female Winner: Danni Di Toro

Male Finalists: Chris Addis, Jake Ballestrino, Ma Lin, Samuel Rizkalla, Oli Pizzey Stratford

Male Winner: Chris Addis

 

The SOKOLOWSKI AWARD is given to the Veteran Players of the Year in memory of Ted Sokolowski who was a fine table tennis player who came up through the junior ranks and was a member of Junior, Senior and Veterans Victorian State Teams. 

Female Finalists: Lydia Liu, Guiqin Gao, Aviva Brindley, Christina Xiong

Female Winner: Guiqin Gao

Male Finalists: David Segal, Igor Klaf, Scott Huang, Mick Wright

Volunteer Awards:

PRESIDENTS AWARD for Distinguished Service

Finalists: The TTV History Group, Lorraine Yeates, Judy James, Greg Bristowe

GUGGENHEIM AWARD for Volunteer of the Year named after Joan Guggenheim.  

Finalists: Peter Fung, Phil Savige, Michael Holwerda, Kameron Chan

Winner: Kameron Chan

 

JAVOR AWARD for Coach of the Year named after the late Karol Javor, an award which recognises the contribution made by him to coaching in Victoria. 

Finalists: Wenyu Gu, Di Li, Judy James, Rahul Mathew

Winner: Wenyu Gu

 

SINGER AWARD for Official of the Year, which is named after Ruth Singer, an award which recognises the contributions made by Ruth Singer to the sport of table tennis as an Official in Victoria.

The ST KILDA CRICKET TABLE TENNIS CLUB AWARD for Affiliate of the Year, is named after the oldest Club in Victoria, St Kilda Cricket Table Tennis Club, an award which recognises the contributions made to the sport of table tennis in Victoria.

Melissa Tapper - Senior Division

Milly is a trailblazing athlete who has achieved the extraordinary feat of representing Australia at both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. She competed at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, becoming the first Australian table tennis player to compete in both formats at the same Games, and again represented Australia at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In Paralympic competition, Melissa has represented Australia at London 2012, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. At Rio 2016, she made history by winning bronze in the Women’s Singles Class 10, becoming Australia’s first female Paralympic medalist in table tennis. Domestically, Milly has secured multiple national championship titles, and internationally she has competed at major able-bodied events, including the Commonwealth Games. Off the table, she is a passionate advocate for inclusive sport and a mentor to emerging athletes. Her resilience, versatility and impact across both Olympic and Paralympic pathways make her one of Australia’s most remarkable table tennis athletes.  

Heming Hu - Senior Division

Heming has had an outstanding career in table tennis, representing Australia at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, showcasing his elite skill on the world stage. Over his career he has consistently achieved excellence at national and international competitions, earning multiple state and national titles. Beyond his achievements as a player, Heming has been a mentor and leader in the Victorian table tennis community, dedicating time to developing young talent and promoting the growth of the sport across grassroots and elite levels. His contributions both on and off the table have made a lasting impact on Australian table tennis.  

 

At the Soiree we honoured excellence, commitment, and unwavering support for table tennis in Victoria.
