In the Spotlight - Brian Tesler

Published Mon 25 Sep 2023

Brian Tesler was lucky enough to be selected to be the Junior Participation & Marketing Officer for the day yesterday, to share some of his ideas and learn what TTV is all about. Heres what he had to say:

What did your day involve?

We started out having a team meeting discussing the weekly focus and tasks that need to get done. This was followed by an introduction to everyone at TTV’s role, and what their daily tasks are. After this I had lunch and played against Oscar and Noah at table tennis and beat both of them easily. Lastly, I learnt how the TTV social media works and scheduled some posts for the week.

What ideas did you propose to TTV?

Decreasing the length of tournament days.

Junior coaching sessions to promote participation of junior players.

Focusing on mental health for athletes as well as physical health.

Promoting the sport as something celebrities play and promoting this through advertising.

Place more table tennis tables in public places.

What were your additional thoughts about the 2024 TTV Strategy?

I really liked the table tennis campaign, and the direction that it is heading for 2024. I am also really excited about the upcoming Grazeland event and the Junior Leaders Program.

What did you think about the upcoming Junior Leaders program?

It is a great opportunity for juniors to be heard and help to provide ideas about the sport. It can also help table tennis adapt to current trends in society that teenagers are more familiar with.

Is Oscar & Noah any good at table tennis?

Absolutely not. I am glad their job doesn’t involve having a hit!

Any other comments:

“Trophies are earned not gifted to you so make sure to be happy when you work hard and earn an award.”

“I wish good luck to all of the Victorian Veterans players competing in the Nationals next week!”
