The 2024 Victorian Closed Junior/Senior/Para Championships took place over the weekend with the Senior/Para competition taking place on Saturday the 19th, with the junior competition taking place on Sunday the 19th. 

The event held at MSAC lived up to it’s reputation as one of the premier events on the State Tournament Circuit, with athletes competing across the range of events and divisions showcasing the skill and success of Victoria’s top players.  

The smooth scheduling of matches, efficient officiating, and supportive atmosphere contributed to the success of the championships. 

TTV Events and Clubs Officer Oscar Yam was in attendance for the entirety of the event stating, “this year’s Victorian Closed Championships have truly highlighted the depth of talent and dedication within our table tennis community, with 230 players participated throughout the weekend.”  

“It’s been incredible to see the growth of the sport across all divisions, especially in the para and junior categories.”  

“The passion and sportsmanship on display throughout the tournament are a testament to the hard work of our athletes and the commitment of our clubs.”  

“It's also great to see several state and national candidates being assessed and mentored on their practical components. We set up a court to host Umpires and Assistant Umpires, allowing National Umpires to practice their skills, and provided valuable experience and pathway for officials to officiate in higher level tournaments.” 

“Overall, it’s fantastic to see that both players and spectators enjoyed such an inclusive and competitive event. It's clear that Victorian table tennis has a bright future ahead."
