Table Tennis Victoria is excited to announce the State Team Manager representatives for the 2023 National Senior, Youth, Junior & Para Championships. 

The three state team manager representatives will play a very important role at the championships in representing ‘Team Victoria’ and supporting all athletes competing within their respective categories.  

Congratulations to our State Team Managers for the 2023 National Senior, Youth, Junior & Para Championships: 

David Powell – State Team Head Coach

David has been a huge contributor for both TTV and TTA his entire career as a professional table tennis athlete.  David is a great advocate for junior table tennis players as he currently coaching the ‘State Pathways Program’ that aims to develop the skills of players under the age of 21 to across all aspects of their game.  From representing Australia at numerous Championships including two Olympic Games as well as notably winning the men’s singles at the ITTF-Oceania Cup in 2016 and 2017, David is considered a valuable National Team member and will always be an Australian Representative in Table Tennis. 

Mick Tomlinson – Para State Team Manager

Mick has been coaching table tennis and more specifically para players for many years through his own programs and with TTV and TTA.  Mick is an outstanding ambassador for Para table tennis as he has assisted numerous para-athletes achieve their elite and high-performance goals and has also aided new para players learn the sport, get graded and start enjoying table tennis. He is also responsible for the Para training program at the Hangar in Tullamarine and in 2022 he assisted TTV in getting Para programs into other clubs and locations around Victoria such as Coburg and Croydon. Mick was the Para coach for the 2022 Victorian State Team at the National Championships in Caloundra with the team winning 26 medals including 12 gold, 10 silver and 4 bronze.

Frank Pearce – Junior & Senior Team Manager

Frank coaches’ players of different levels, including players at State, National & International level. He is the coach of the Croydon & Districts Table Tennis Association Junior Program’s as well as the coordinator and coach of the Saturday coaching sessions. In 2022, he created an additional Junior Development Program to allow the elite and developing junior players to access more coaching time from the club. He has grown his Saturday coaching program to up to 30 players a week, helping get more members ready for pennant competitions and social activities.

We are very thrilled to have three very experienced individuals listed as the State Team Managers in the 2023 National Senior, Youth, Junior & Para Championships.
