State Representation

Senior Male Senior Women  Senior State Teams

Table Tennis Victoria is pleased to present the complete records for all players who have officially represented Victoria at senior level at Australian Championships. Victoria competed at the very 1st Australian Championship which was held in Melbourne in 1933 that consisted of the team of Arch Champion, Hec Oakley, Reg Griffiths, Reg Lamont and Clarrie Collyer. In 1937, Women’s teams were included and the first Women’s team comprised Carlene Hawk, Joan Sampson, Iolene Crump and Feleice White.

Since then, Victoria has been won a multitude of titles and medals along the way. To date, a grand total of 93 men and 85 women have represented Victoria at National Championships, making this a prestigious and exclusive club.

TTV feels it is important to recognise all official Victorian representatives to showcase our proud history and identify all those who have contributed to our success. TTV developed the following criteria that must be met in order to be recognised:

Victorian Male and Female Representation

• Must have played in the Victorian team at a National Championship

• “B” and “C” teams are not included

TTV has reviewed all historical records and compiled a record for every official Victorian representative. For each player this comprises their official player number, the span of years that they represented Victoria and the players Highest Victorian Ranking.

In addition, a separate Victorian Teams Representation list has been developed which also includes “B” and “C” teams.

Please check in regularly as the records will be continuously updated.

There are several members’ photos that we are still trying to source, and if you are able to assist with missing photos, please contact TTV.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Table Tennis Victoria acknowledges the following people for their contribution to this initiative:

Greg Bristowe (TTV Board Member), who developed the idea of identifying and recognising every official Victorian representative. Spent countless hours sourcing information, confirming records, creating documentation and updating the website with the data.

Marie Pinkewich, who spent countless hours sourcing information and confirming records.

Bob Tuckett (TTV Life Member and TTV Hall of Fame Member), who inherited and has continuously updated the records following Karol Javor’s passing. Bob spent countless hours sourcing information, and a great sounding board as the project was being developed.

• The late Karol Javor (TTV Hall of Fame Member), who was an avid and meticulous record keeper. Karol’s records, especially for the 1950’s-1980’s period, form the backbone of Australian table tennis history for able-bodied athletes and events.
